Big wooden round shell

This is a round wooden shield ready for battle with shield boss and steel frame. Although reconstructions are often very small, it is finally up to the originals. A sturdy leather-wrapped strap is riveted at the back of the shell.

The beautiful Viking shield we offer here is made of approx.  Plywood 13 mm thick, coated with linen and exquisitely adorned with so-called  triquetras  (clover or trinity knots) and crows.  The motif of the twin bird is a representation of Odin's faithful messengers,  Hugin and Munin  (or Huginn and  Muninn ), a recurring motif in Celtic and Viking art.  In Norse mythology, crows fly over Asgard and Midgard and return every night to the Father of All Gods (also known asHrafnáss , the "crow god") to tell him everything they saw and heard.

The beautiful Viking shield we offer here is made of approx. 13 mm thick plywood and adorned with a hand-painted Nordic dragon or a thrilling beast, a recurring motif in Viking art. It can also be a representation of the call Midgard Serpent.

In the center, the shield features a generously sized steel protrusion that is firmly fixed in place with four rivets and leaves enough room to accommodate even sturdy Viking hands. The edge of the shield is reinforced with metal and the back has a solid wood handle.

While this medieval wooden shield may be a bit too light and thin for full contact, it's still a great accessory for reenactment, LARP, stage, or TV/film and will make your transformation into a proud Norse warrior just seamless. In addition, it is also a beautiful collectible or display piece for all Viking Age enthusiasts.
