Large Tankard/ Beer Mug, Genuine Horn Valknut
This generously sized mug/tankard with handle is handmade from cattle horn, polished and adorned with an engraved valknut symbol framed by a rune sequence.
The valknut, a symbol consisting of three interconnected triangles, appears in a wide variety of archaeological finds attributed to the Germanic peoples. Although its true meaning remains a matter of speculation to date, some experts tend to believe that it may be associated with Odin, the Father of the Gods in Norse mythology. He has now found his place in modern culture, adorning many pieces of jewelry, talisman or decorative object, and is particularly popular among supporters of Heathenry, also known as Germanic neopaganism (e.g., followers of Asanatus).

Medieval Battle of Visby Gauntlets, 14th c.Steel
and leather, various colors
These gauntlets are based on a find from the site of the battle of Korsbetningen (Gotland Island, Sweden), just outside the city walls of Visby, where an army of Gutnish farmers and peasants fighting against the Danish conquest of Gotland was crushed by the forces of King Valdemar IV of Denmark (Valdemar Atterdag) on 27 July, 1361.
The battle gauntlets we offer here are made of 2mm thick leather and 1.2mm steel. The upper leather features riveted metal plates that entirely cover the back of the hand and the five fingers. It is riveted into an inner sleeve made of supple leather. The long riveted leather cuff is reinforced with oblong steel plates on the inside and equipped with an adjustable leather strap and a brass buckle for a comfortable and personalized fit on the wrist.
This pair of articulated leather and plate grips offers a combination of safety, freedom of movement and comfort of use. It is best suited for late medieval settings and particularly suited to the depiction of a 14th-century Northern European warrior. An ideal accessory for reconstitution and LARP!
