Round Roman Shield, Umbo, Brass
Ideal for DIY shield projects.
Shield bosses are designed to deflect enemy blows and accommodate shield grip. But in addition to their practical function, they could in some cases additionally serve an ornamental purpose.
The round shield boss (the so-called umbo) that we offer here is the perfect accessory for ambitious reenactors who want to build their own Roman shield. It is ideal for a parma, but can also be used on a shield (note that the protrusion is not bent, so if it is mounted on curved armor, it must be adapted to the curvature of the armor before mounting).
The protrusion is made of brass, blackened on the reverse side, and has four pre-drilled holes to attach it to your shield. Mounting hardware (screws with rounded brass heads) is included in delivery.
