The so-called Great Helmet (also called a large helmet, large heaume, pot helmet, bucket helmet or barrel helmet) was often worn on a smaller and lighter helmet (e.g. a cervelliere/secret helmet) and was widespread throughout Central Europe in the Middle Ages. Numerous historical illustrations, miniatures and finds from Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. testify to the popularity of this particular type of helmet at the time. These helmets emerged during the Crusades in the late 12th/ early 13th century. and were commonly used by knights until the mid-14th century.

This beautiful one-hand Viking-era sword is based on a find discovered in 1950 at the gnёzdovo archaeological complex near Smolensk, Russia, during the excavation of tomb C-2. Dated between the 9th and 10th centuries and classified as Type D according to the typology of Petersen's Viking sword, the original piece was in a pit under the remains of a funeral pyre inside the tomb.
Although the finely crafted and richly decorated handle (believed to be the product of a Gotlandese craftsman) was still remarkably well preserved, the blade was broken and folded. Despite its rather precarious state of conservation, it was still possible to detect engravings on its surface: an "O" shaped symbol on one side and the remains of a cross on the other. It is not yet clear whether these marks were the blacksmith's identifiers or if they were added later.
Although its property cannot be clearly established, the materials and quality workmanship used in the drafting of this sword suggest that it was probably once the prestigious weapon of a noted Viking Rus chief or warrior.

The 1857, 12-pound model, nicknamed "Napoleon," was the most popular weapon used during the American Civil War. It was responsible for almost 40% of the artillery armament and one of the most important parts of the conflict. The "Napoleon" was widely admired for its safety, reliability and effectiveness, especially at short range.
Our reproduction is based directly on an original helmet found in a 10th-century Slavic-Varangian settlement called Gnezdovo or Gnyozdovo near Smolensk in modern Russia. Many typical Scandinavian artifacts have been found at the same time as this helmet, making it a good choice for anyone wishing to re-enact an Oriental Viking/Varangian/Russ/Slav character. On the other hand, such a helmet would seem much less appropriate if you were depicting a Viking from the west invain england, for example.
This gorgeous Gnezdovo helmet is handmade 16 gauge soft steel (14G available upon request), lined with a comfortable and secure leather lining and a sturdy riveted aventail mail. A circumference of approx. 68 cm makes almost all head sizes fit. And a sturdy closed chin strap with a beautiful buckle will help keep your helmet in place during all your battles.
they trace their origins to Early 17th century Europe, where the sword with the Rapier was considered an essential part of a gentleman's education and was often used in resolving gentlemanly disagreements. This model features a well-balanced high-carbon steel blade with a solid steel basket (not plated) and a hard wood grip. The rigid hem is covered in leather.
