Occupying much of these areas until about 275 BC, their territories were gradually usurped, conquered and occupied not only by the expanding Romans, but also by the Germanic peoples, leaving them mainly in the British Isles and Ireland.

This elaborate leather belt is made of thick, vegetable-tanned (granular) buffalo leather. The surface and edges were polished and given a light-colored finish, giving the leather a distinctive worn appearance.

The belt consists of leather panels joined by means of hand-braided seams. The extra-long straps are riveted in the center of the back and fastened with a knot through rings in the front, like a medieval long belt.

This belt is suitable for both men and women. Whether as a Viking, pirate or simply in everyday life, this belt makes any costume or costume stand out from the crowd.

The piece of Roman military equipment known as the cingulum militare was a leather belt adorned with ornamental metal plates and often equipped with frogs (hanging devices) for the soldier's dagger. This war belt was not only used to hold the warrior's braccae (pants) during battle, but it was also a demonstration of military rank or honor.

The Roman cingulate we offer here is based on a discovery dating from the first half of the 1st century AD and made at the archaeological site of Rheingönheim (Ludwigshafen, Germany), a Roman auxiliary fort or castrum located on the Rhine River. Although cingulate belts were usually completed by a leather apron consisting of several narrow straps (so-called pterygians or pteruges) decorated with metal fittings, the original artifact was found without an apron.

The hinged buckle, pugio frogs, and decorative plates are all made of tinned brass. The belt itself is made of sturdy 3mm leather and backed with a second suede lining to protect the wearer's tunic from the rivets that hold back the metal plates. It has holes and is adjustable to a wide range of sizes. A leather cord for tying and attaching a dagger to the double buttons is included in delivery.
