Gladius Pompeii, Windlass
The light and the efficient – this was how the Gladius was known among the ancient Roman army. It was the main weapon, as it could be used efficiently in any hand-to-hand combat situation. Pompeii was one of the later versions. For further analysis, "What the Soldiers Wore on Hadrian's Wal", a book by Russell Robinson can be consulted. In this version of Pompeii the curvature was eliminated and the tip decreased. However, it was just as effective and easy to produce. Made of high carbon steel, this replica features a turned ash handle and maple.
Includes matching wooden sheath with leather cover and brass applications.
Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts.
Note that this Gladius is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to collector's quality, it is also perfectly suited as an accessory, for example to complete your costume.
