Handmade in a small village nestled in the Longquan Mountains in China's Zhejiang province, where the tradition of making swords by hand began over 2000 years ago.
Each piece of this sword is created by experienced forgers using centuries-old methods. The blade is forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and hardened with special-shaped clay using traditional methods, with Rockwell hardness in the range of 45-48 HRC and the hardest cutting edge in the range of 56-58 HRC. This ancient method of tempering creates the ripple, the visible line that appears on the blade when the clay is removed. Each blade is sharp, and you need to be able to cut a sheet of paper before it leaves the factory.
The tsuba and pommel represent the pheasant, the ancient Japanese symbol of harmony and the national bird of modern Japan. The tsuba, the pommel, and the fuchi-kashira (the necklace next to the tsuba) are made of brass and have an aged finish. The strap is made of real lightning leather wrapped in cord.
The wooden sheath is painted in matte black with shiny "raindrops".
Includes a cotton storage bag.
It also includes a cleaning and maintenance kit for the care of Katanas Shogun, presented in an elegant wooden box that includes:
- Oil bottle, to protect the blade
