This beautiful sword from the Vendel Period is modeled on a richly decorated and richly decorated find, excavated in a boat pit at a ship burial site near Uppsala, Sweden. Due to its sumptuous and intricate details, it is believed that the original archaeological piece was the prestigious weapon of a seventh / eighth c. Swedish chief, noble or elite warrior. Many findings attributed to the Vendel era (approximately between the Migration Period and the Viking Era in Sweden's history) testify to the high quality of craftsmanship attainable at the time.
In terms of form, this one-hand sword is a classic example of a Nordic weapon. The wider double-edged blade is forged in EN45 spring steel. The edges are not sharpened and the total ear of the blade is riveted into the pommel.
The approx. The 9 cm long, 1.5 cm thick guard and generously sized apple are cast into brass and closely recreate the highly detailed engraved motifs and patterns of the original artifact. The old-fashioned brass finish is accentuated by the contrasting tin-plated brass bands. Like many original examples of this period, the apple is composed of several riveted parts. The handle cap is encrusted with red enamel that reproduces genuine grenades. The handle of the wooden core is bound in brown leather.
This one-hand sword from Vendel comes complete with a wooden hem and brown leather with wooden hanging clip (maximum belt width 5 cm) and old-fashioned brass neck and plate.
Note that this sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reconstitution. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as support, for example to complete your fantasy.
