The archaeological site of Sutton Hoo, located in the English region of East Anglia, includes numerous tombs. The most famous of these is the burial of a ship from which extraordinarily well-preserved artifacts were excavated in 1939, dating from the early 7th century.

The beautiful one-hand sword offered here is modeled on a sword, or, more strictly speaking, on the fragments of a finely crafted sword handle with gold rooster hat pommel encrusted with garnets, which was dug up from the same burial chamber. The surviving components of the prestigious weapon are on display for people to admire at the British Museum in London.

The blade of this beautifully detailed Sutton Hoo sword reconstruction is a classic Germanic blade from the Dark Ages (wide, straight, double-edged). It is made of EN45 spring steel and has a wider width that runs almost its entire length on both sides. Parallel edges are not sharp.

Like the original artifact, the richly decorated handle is made of several riveted parts. The handle consists of a leather-bound wooden core and adorned with old-fashioned brass clips or brackets. The composite handle bar and protection have the same three-part layout, consisting of an intermediate layer of wood between two brass plates. The handle lid, made of brass and red enamel, closely replicates the intricate pattern of the museum piece.

This ancient medieval one-hand sword comes complete with a brown wooden and leather hem with wooden hanging clip (maximum belt width 5 cm) and old-fashioned brass neck and plate.

Note that this sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as support, for example to complete your fantasy.
