The Wars of the Roses, fought between 1455 and 1485, were a series of battles for the English crown between the Houses of York and Lancaster. Both families were members of the same European royal dynasty, the Plantagenets, who ruled England for the past three centuries. These civil wars (punctuated by brief episodes of relative peace) owe their name to the respective emblem of rival families, a white rose for Yorkers, and a red one for the Lancastrians. After 30 years of political plots and terrible bloodshed, the family dispute led to the end of the Plantagenet dynasty and the rise of the House of Tudor.

Viking Sword of Eigg Island with Sheath, 9th C., Damascus Steel Blade
Decorating sword
This beautiful Viking sword is based on a silver-encrusted bronze handle excavated in 1830 on the Isle of Eigg, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. Although some parts of the blade have also been found, they no longer survive. The original and well-detailed discovery of the burial is on display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Dating back to the 9th or early 10th century, this finely crafted piece of Viking history is classified as a Type D according to Petersen's Viking sword typology.
The Philippine Islands are widely known for their vast array of edged weapons. There is a wide variety of styles of Kris sword to choose from, as each island, region, or clan has its favorite, with some placing more emphasis on cutting, while others prefer styles more conducive to thrusting.
The blades of the Cold Steels Kris Daggers are made of high-carbon 1055 steel with hard spring quenching. They are satin polished and fully honed. In profile, Kris blades feature a moderately wavy blade shape with three concave curves and a long, descending spearhead found on almost all Kris swords. This blade shape strikes a good balance between cutting power and thrust capacity. The base of the blades ends in traditional flanges decorated with "file cutting", with the shorter ones protecting the finger and the longer ones protecting the thumbs and lower part of the forearm.
Classic straps emphasize strength and durability over fashion. Hand-carved from exotic Sal wood, they are wrapped in wire and embellished with a brass cushion. Each Kris comes with an equally sturdy and practical sheath.
