On 21 July 1403, the Battle of Shrewsbury (Shropshire, England) saw Henry IV of England win over an army led by his former supporter, Sir Henry Harry Hotspur Percy of Northumberland (made forever famous by Shakespeare in his 1598 story). play Henry IV Part I). Percy, who turned against the king and allied himself with Owain Glyndwr, the rebel leader of the Welsh Revolution from 1400 to 1415 (also known as Glyndwr Rising), was killed during the scuffled, causing his army to disperse and the rebellion to fall apart.

Named after this decisive battle, the original Shrewsbury Sword, classified as Type XV by Ewart Oakeshott, is kept in the Wallace Collection.

Although this beautiful and good-value sword is not a replica of the above-mentioned historical example, it features the typical features of a traditional one-and-a-half-hand sword from the late 14th / early 15th century (also called the bastard sword). it is modeled after the same swords that would have been used on both sides in this great English battle.

The double-edged blade is forged from hardened and hardened EN45 hardened steel. It has a diamond cross section, gently tapered towards the tip and is filled on both sides. The wide center amplifier ends halfway through the blade. The edges are not sharp and the full blade spike is riveted into the pommel.

The cable is composed of brown leather wooden handle, a steel faceted hexagonal slit handle and a flattened steel cross-protection. The guard's quillons have extended terminals, each decorated with a cross-shaped cut. The perforated protector is about 23 cm long and 1 cm thick.

This medieval hand and half sword comes with a wooden sheath and brown leather with steel neck and chape.

Please note that this sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e. to complete your costume.

The same sword is also available as a practical and crude version, with thicker edges and rounded tip (product no. 0116332806).
