The original scimitar was called shamshir (meaning " lion's tail ") and had a highly curved blade that almost formed a semicircle. Developed in Persia, this type of blade was effective for making trailing cuts, but otherwise its usefulness was limited. This caused the blade to change shape to get a more useful version like the one in our project.

This is a beautiful and romantic sword from the Hank Reinhardt collection. The blade was quite effective in cutting and chopping, and the tip was quite useful in pushing the "hook". Manufactured from high carbon steel by Windlass Steelcrafts ®. The handle is made of wood and the protection and scabbard are made of steel.

The scabbard has a middle throat, neck, and metal tip.

Despite the decreasing effectiveness of plate armor in the face of increasing effectiveness of firearms, the French cavalry in Napoleon's army still wore cuirass (medieval-style breastplates and backs) with mixed success. They were somewhat useful for deflecting musket and long-range pistol fire (we stress "a little"), but when the cuirassier's attire was paired with a helmet adorned with a feathered gorgon's head and ponytail, then a rather imposing figure on his way into battle. The accounts of the survivors of the British armies attest to the petrifying spectacle of compact groups of cuirassiers emerging from behind the French front lines.

The Philippine islands are widely known for their wide variety of edged weapons. There is a wide variety of Kris sword styles to choose from, as each island, region, or clan has its favorite, with some placing more emphasis on cutting, while others prefer styles that are more conducive to thrusting.

Cold Steels Kris' blades are made of 1055 carbon steel with hard spring quenching. They are satin polished and fully honed. In profile, Kris blades feature a moderately wavy blade shape with three concave curves and a long, descending spearhead found on almost all Kris swords. This blade shape strikes a good balance between cutting power and thrust capacity. The base of the blades ends in traditional flanges decorated with "file cut", with the shorter one protecting the finger and the longer one protecting the thumb, wrist and lower forearm.

Classic straps emphasize strength and durability over fashion. Hand-carved from exotic Sal wood, they are wrapped with wire and embellished with a brass cushion. Each Kris comes with an equally sturdy and practical sheath.
