Medieval Kragelund Askur Tunic, Black
The look and cut of this tunic are based on archaeological finds dating back to the 11th century. However, it is not an individual reproduction.
Nederfrederiksmose Man, also known as <,i>Kragelund Man or Fredriksdal Man, was found in 1898 near the town of Kragelund, Denmark. It was the first bog body photographically documented at the site of discovery. He wore a tunic, short leather boots, and bare-legged.
Our knee-length tunic is made of sturdy cotton canvas and adorned with hand-sewn ornamental stitches. It is elaborately finished and designed as an outer garment. So-called buds (wedge-shaped pieces of fabric) inserted into the front and back center panels and side seams give the tunic a beautiful shine from the hip down. The unconventional tailoring of the sleeves shows the combination of wide arms and regular forearms.
This tunic is ideal for the portrait of the Nordics. For an authentic look, we recommend that you wear it with a leather belt.

The main competition for the Bowie knife from the late 1830s through the period just after the Civil War was the Arkansas toothpick. The Arkansas Toothpick got its name as an ironic reference to the crass and violent culture that populated the Arkansas and Mississippi Delta lowlands in the mid-nineteenth century. Traveling journalists from Europe often made up stories about how they used to see men and old men picking their teeth with giant knives they dubbed the Arkansas Toothpicks.
Like the Bowie, it was often a big sword, almost always double-edged and a sharp, sharp edge. The knife almost always had a double guard of quillon. Many were sophisticated and some mimicked the Bowies of the time in size and appearance. Of course, some Daggers were simple, but most were elaborately decorated.
The Cold Steels® version has a substantial blade with double-edged spearhead, Malaysian Salt wooden handle and a sleek pommel with crocodile motif. The sheath is equally impressive. It is finely made and decorated to complement the handle.
An impressive longsword or imposingly large hand-and-a-half sword, probably from the late fourteenth century.
The precise origin of this European sword is unknown, but based on the markings it is likely to be of German or possibly Italian origin . It arrived at the Alexandria Armory as a diplomatic gift, war booty or as an object of homage from the Kingdom of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Egypt, where it bore an inscription in Arabic. From then on it became part of at least one private collection, before being subsequently acquired by the Royal Armouries.
The sword of this great knight features a wide and powerful Oakeshott Type XVI blade of 97 cm. It is a rather heavy sword by the standards of the time, due to the length and width of the blade, but it is wonderfully balanced thanks to the distal cone, long hilt and large hilt. Swords similar to this one can be seen widely in late fourteenth- and early fifteenth-century art, including manuscripts and also on chivalric effigies and bronzes.
Swords like this were very popular at the time throughout Europe, from England to Italy, from Portugal to Poland, and appear in several contemporary fighting treatises such as the Fior di Battaglia de Fiore delli Liberi (1410). They were worn on foot and on horseback, with or without armor, with one or two hands. This example is an especially powerful slashing weapon and less specialized in thrusts than other longswords of the time.
The scabbard is made with a wooden body and covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass ferrule. At the mouth of the hem, the leather extends upwards and covers part of the guard.
Our replica matches the original in every aspect of shape, measurement, and workmanship.

The appearance and cut of this tunic are based on an archaeological find dating back to the 11th century. In 1984, during excavations in Viborg (Denmark), a bundle of fabric glued to canvas was discovered. As it turned out, these were individual fragments that could be put together to form a tunic. Only the back and sleeves have not been preserved in their entirety and leave a bit of room for interpretation.
The tunic has a very elaborate and unique cut for the time. The upper part of the fuselage is worked in two layers at the front and back and has a rectangle from which the seams protrude diagonally. The neckline is equipped with two slits and drawstrings. The arm ball is cut straight and is complemented by a reinforcement in the armpit area. The sleeve is made up of a total of three pieces of pattern and tapers towards the hem. The side seams are slit, with the back reaching a few inches above the front, covering the top of the slit.
Our cotton tunic is a unique reconstruction of the Viborg tunic of the Middle Ages. We place special emphasis on the correct cut of the dividing seams, the finishing in the details and the correct proportions. We have slightly lengthened the total length of the torso and sleeves for aesthetic reasons. Thus, our Viking tunic has long sleeves and the hem ends at the thigh height. The elaborate tunic can be worn as both an upper and lower tunic. The fabric (100% cotton) is medium firm and double-layered in the torso area.
The tunic is the perfect cloak for all Nordics. For an authentic outfit, we recommend pairing it with a belt, calf wraps, and ear pants.
